The Peter Christopherson Project

Peter Christopherson (1955-2010) was a British designer, photographer, director and musician. He came to prominence as part of legendary graphic design agency Hipgnosis, with whom he contributed to projects by artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Peter Gabriel. He took the first photos of the Sex Pistols, designed the logo and shopfront for fashion boutique BOY, and directed over a hundred music videos.

Running alongside his commercial work was a rich vein of exploration, daring journeys through sexuality, mysticism, creation, and transgression. His work with Throbbing Gristle and COUM challenged society to such an extent that government MPs felt compelled to respond. His video experiments with Psychic TV ran parallel to the MTV revolution and as part of Coil, his influence carried over to a new generation of artists.

Christopherson's body of work is so vast that as yet, no attempts have been made to document the entirety of his output. Many books have appeared which examine individual aspects of his life, but there is no singular tome that addresses the sheer magnitude of his œuvre.

Musician, producer, and researcher Greg Reason has commenced research for an authoritative book that traces Peter's journey through hundreds of extraordinary projects.

Greg Reason is a musician, producer, photographer and journalist. He explores new musical spaces with a variety of projects including Ektoise, Tetra, Gorau Glas, Versim, and Departures as well as recent recordings under his own name. He has participated in the creation of over eighty releases, including forty-seven as producer. He produced the soundtrack for the short film Real Love (Cannes Festival, 2013) and his compositions have been remixed by such luminaries as Bola, The Haxan Cloak, Mark Fell (SND), Noah Landis (Neurosis), Danny Hyde (Coil), The Black Dog, and Chris Douglas. As a journalist, his work has been published in Berlin Logs, Deluxe Edition, Tsunami Magazine, and Forte.
